I had totally forgotten about this until a few moments ago as I was reading the board.

When I was maybe 7 or 8, it was night time and my mother told me to go to bed.

I went to my room, and as soon as I got to the doorway I saw a big, black furry "shadow" sitting on top of my dresser. It was big enough that it covered the entire top of my dresser. It was shaped kind of like a turtle shell, but it was taller than a turtle shell, and as wide as my dresser top.

I ran back to my mom and told her, and she came to my room with me.
As soon as we got back to my room, she told me to go wake up my dad and tell him to bring the gun.

I went and got dad, and he got the gun and we went back to my mom who was still standing in the doorway to my room.

All three of us saw it sitting there on my dresser, we could even see movement like it was breathing. But, as soon as my dad turned the light on, it was gone. Just gone. He searched my room everywhere, but it just wasn't there. I also need to say that there wasn't a single item on the top of my dresser, the top was empty to begin with.

Anyone else have an experience like this? Anyone have any idea what it could have been?

I havent personally experienced that but my old friend from school used to experience something similar. She would stand at her mirror and fix her hair in the morning...and in the reflection you could see her bed. well, she would look in the mirror and see a fuzzy black shadow thing on her bed but when you turned around it was gone.

But i must say...your story just gave me the shivers LOL

I haven't experienced this, but it sure did give me chills reading about it.

Eww that is creepy!..I have never seen any like that before, but I did see a weird looking elf like thing walking once late at night on my dark street, they say creatures tend to lurk about late at night or early morning hours when most ppl are asleep..it was so odd cause it was around 2 am and all was quiet around my area and I happened to look out my bedroom upstairs window, and I see this small thing/person walk across the road when it got under the street light I noticed it had on a brown cloke(sp?) type coat with a hood and ya couldnt see it but just when i noticed it walk it actually looked my way like it knew I was watching it...but I never got a look at the face, I was way to scared and hurried and ran away from the window.
I was a teen back then, and I can remember it like it was yesterday!..I dont think I will ever forget seeing that!
I do really wonder if these things are really around?
